Sicily has become the latest region to sanction the use of blockchain technology in its food supply chain. This comes as more and more businesses join the blockchain bandwagon, including Swiss retail chain, Migros. Although announced, the complete bill which was originally put forth by the 5-Star Movement (M5S) has yet to be shown in full to the public. The aim of this bill is to increase transparency "from farm to fork" as well as to foster a sense of trust between each member of the supply chain. Apart from improving overall care for the consumer, the implementation of blockchain technology will benefit businesses too, through a significant decrease in product recalls. With the announcement of the bill passing the Sicilian Regional Assembly, Jose Marano, deputy of M5S shared his hope that the region will not become free of any food adulteration.
