CoinGecko, the cryptocurrency market capitalization aggregator, is working with Hacken to incorporate a new scoring metric into their platform, a Cyber Security Score. Throughout the cryptocurrency space, especially amongst smaller cap exchanges and projects, many struggle with wash trading and falsified volume levels in order to create the illusion of more usage. Exchanges are manipulating their trading volume data in order to look like they are larger than they actually are. Since CoinGecko, was the first crypto data aggregator to introduce comprehensive exchange rankings on factors other than trading volume, it makes sense that they want to continue to work and improve on that system. Fast forward to today and we can see another aspect coming into fruition with the introduction of the Trust Score, an algorithm designed to include many metrics of what an actively used cryptocurrency exchange should have, such as liquidity, trading activity, scalability, and technical expertise. This cyber security metric now adds all these features to the mix.
