The Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe) will not add Bitcoin Futures for trading in March, according to a notice to traders published Thursday afternoon. In the new contract details update, the exchange said that the "CFE is not adding a Cboe Bitcoin (USD) (“XBT”) futures contract for trading in March 2019.” The reason? The CFE is still deciding what to do with a Bitcoin. The exchange is re-evaluating how to approach to the digital market and it has not yet decided within offer or not digital asset derivatives for trading. The Cboe also said that currently listed bitcoin futures contract, the XBTM19, will remain on play for trading until the last expiration occurs in June. Crypto believer and trader Alex Krüger complained about Cboe decision to stop bitcoin futures offering in June in a tweet published later on Thursday. He said: "Quite unfortunate." In the notice to traders, the CFE said "no new contracts" for Cboe Bitcoin (USD) Futures (XBT) in March 2019 and the beginning of April 2019.The Cboe started its bitcoin futures trading business back on December 2017. However, the CME did the same just weeks after with a more successful performance. The CME has attracted users with more efficacy than the Cboe, with trading volume benefiting the Chicago Mercantile Exchange by a lot.
