The Binance Charity Foundation has announced the expansion of its blockchain-enabling charity program Lunch for Children to 10 new schools in Uganda, according to a blog post published by the company. The global cryptocurrency exchange started its philanthropic venture in Kampala last February with the Jolly Mercy Learning Centre. Since then, the BCF has expanded its support to over 3,700 students and staff across ten schools in Jinja and Kampala. The program provides beneficiaries with the Coinbase crypto wallet Trust Wallet where they receive donations worth 0.30 dollar cents in BNB for a whole year full of lunches. "The donation for these 10 new schools, totaling in US$236,061, was made possible by Binance and BCF’s sponsors, as well as TRON, IOST, and a Binance VIP customer," the blog post says. The cryptocurrencies don't go directly to the beneficiaries, but to vetted suppliers who provide food to schools daily. The companies collect BNBs, and then they redeem crypto to Uganda Shillings on Binance Uganda, the first fiat-to-crypto exchange of Binance established in October 2018. The campaign has raised interest throughout the crypto industry, with possible implementations of Blockchain for charity. "So far, more than 10 crypto companies have pledged to donate to BCF, with five of these companies already sending their donations." According to the blog post, the menu changes every day.
