Owner of the most subscribed to YouTube account, PewDiePie, has joined DLive, a blockchain based streaming platform. The Swedish-born gamer turned YouTube personality, whose account brags a whopping 93.7 million subscribers struck an “exclusive” deal with DLive on Tuesday. As per the deal, from the 14th April, he will begin weekly streams from the service which runs on Lino blockchain. This will bring a huge amount of attention to DLive, as PewDiePie’s videos rack up views in the millions. Reach aside though, PewDiePie has also pledged to support the content creators already on the platform. He has stated that he plans to donate $50,000 to 100 creators working on DLive. Which is a drop in the ocean for the Swede, who earnt in the range of $15.5 million last year. Making him YouTube’s 9th biggest earner. On Dlive, content creators and viewers are rewarded for their own native token “Lino Points”. What is unique about the platform is they take no share of the creators’ income and do not charge any fees to those who publish content there. Thus, attracting hype and attention to their site is a huge element of their business model, which PewDiePie should manage to do with little trouble. Speaking on the new deal, PewDiePie stated “I’m excited to start live streaming again regularly! DLive is great for me because I’m treated like a real partner, just like all of the other streamers on DLive’s unique platform.”
