Trezor Warns Users About Fake Mobile App

Trezor is warning users of a malicious mobile application featured on Google Play which appears to be associated with the wallet provider. At least 1,000 users have already downloaded this software, and it is likely that some have unwittingly provided their seed phrase to unlock their funds.

Both Trezor and SatoshiLabs have confirmed the existence of this fake app through a recently-issued tweet. The company provides a user manual for Android users which can be downloaded from their website. Users can also find links to purchase Trezor and download linked apps directly from the official store.

Trezor wallets are well-known for their security and reliability. Hardware wallets such as this are only connected to the Internet for very short periods of time, almost eliminating any possibility for cyberattacks. However, using associated mobile apps comes with additional risks. As a result, users are always encouraged to activate all 2-FA methods. Trezor officially approves use of its wallet with Mycelium, Walleth, and Sentinel.

It is unclear whether any users have reported any funds stolen from their Trezor account as a result of using this fake app. There are over 200 reviews to the app, with the majority outlining the fact that it is a scam.
