Samsung, the South Korean electronics giant, is ready to launch its blockchain and cryptocurrency equipped smartphone as it is seeking for a trademark in the UK Intellectual Property Office. The filing suggests that Samsung is considering the integration of a cryptocurrency wallet into its smartphones. The filing backs previous rumours that say the company has plans to include a cryptocurrency cold wallet in its Galaxy S10 phone. Back in December 2018, Samsung filed three trademark applications for Blockchain and Cryptocurrency software in the EU. According to a December 27 filing with the United Kingdom IPO, the office that approves or disapproves marks and business names, Samsung is seeking the approval for the "Samsung Crypto Wallet" trademark that would work as a crypto and blockchain wallet in their electronic devices. The filling, included in a Class 9 section: "Smartphones; Tablet computers; Portable computers; Mobile telephones; Computer software; Computer software for use as a cryptocurrency wallet; Computer software for cryptocurrency transfer and payment using blockchain technology; Computer application software for smartphones, namely, software to allow users to transfer cryptocurrency based on blockchain technology and pay via third party’s application software." The owner of the trademark would be Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. with the IPO representation of Fieldfisher LLP.
